The BIG Trip #2

So I wake up early in the morning to finish preparing for the five hour flight ahead of us. We eat breakfast, finish packing and say good bye to my mom and my dads girlfriend. When we arrive at the airport it wasn't hard to find the first of my family. Out side he airport is my grandpa, sitting in the front of the car a huge open gash on his forehead. Apparently well getting the bags he hit his head on the car door. After running about for ten minuets to find bandages we finally settle in the front of the airport, just waiting for one more family, the dancer, her husband, and her seven children. Finally we can't wait any longer or we will miss our flight so we head to bag check. My grandma, who favorites the dancer, decides to stay and wait for her. About and hour later and I'm on a plane for the first time in years, sitting next to the dancer's seven annoying children. The flight turned out to not be to bad. I sat by the window and watch all three Hunger Games. I tried falling asleep but the seats were to uncomfortable. We landed in Honolulu around 1pm in the afternoon then had a thirty minuet layover, in which we all got crappy airport hotdogs. Around 2:15 we landed in our destination, Maui.

The BIG Trip

I've only ever been on a plane once, when i was super young, so the memories are foggy but the fear is still there. Last Christmas my grandparents decided to take us all on a trip. Now let me tell you a little about my grandparents, their not the kindest. My grandmother worked at a hospital for years, she's the nicer one, and retired recently. My grandfather was the longest running superintendent in my school district, which means all my teachers know him. If I had to describe him in five words I'd use Judgmental, grumpy, no filter, rude, and a bit of a smart ass. But who am I to pass down a trip to Hawaii because I can't stand my grandparents. So it was set, twenty two of us would fly up to Hawaii the day after Christmas. Seems simple, but you don't know my family yet. First there's my grandma's oldest, we'll call her "The Dancer". Now she's quite a snob. She's married to a rich lawyer, we'll call him, "The Jerk", together they have seven children, which out of the seven the oldest is eight. Next is my grandma's second oldest, she's "The Nerd" and there's her husband, " The Fuse" (anger issues). Together they have three children. Next we have "The Soccer Coach". Now the soccer coach doesn't have a husband, she's more in the market for a wife. But my grandparents being the judgmental asses they always are wouldn't allow her to bring her girlfriend, there for, the soccer coach declined the trip. And last of my grandma's children is "The Star Wars Fan", he's married to a judgemental, uptight, conceded lady we'll call "The Bitch". Together they have three children. Finally there's my grandpa's side, which just consists of my father and uncle. Now my uncle didn't make it to this trip, he doesn't exactly enjoy conversing with us "non-Mormons". Then there's my dad and me.

Autumn

Autumn is such a special season to me. Although the excitement of summer is gone by autumn there is a certain light that appears in fall. It's almost as if the sun is shinning orange and yellow like the leaves. If you're like me and live in a place that is scorching hot in summer, than you may know the feeling of relief when the fall weather seems to set in. Kids have just begun going back to school and the new year is in only a few months. Autumn seems to bring the holiday cheer with it, along with my favorite holiday, Halloween. By Halloween it's fall time, another favorite season of mine. The best thing about fall is when it begins to get just chilly enough to wear sweaters or snuggle up under a blanket with a warm cup of tea and a book. There are so many wonders about Autumn and Fall and I could sit here and name them all, but one thing seems to stick out the most. The reason why Autumn is my favorite season, is because of the joy it brings. With the come of Autumn families and friends seem to come closer together in preparation for the holidays. Crazy families and close friends seem to all become happier around Autumn. I have this giant family, on both sides, that, although tries hard not to, seems to always make drama. But around November (which is still Autumn weather here) my family all gets together at my great aunts house for Thanksgiving dinner. It doesn't matter who dislikes who or what drama has happened in the past, we all sit down at the long wooden table, set just for the that night, and say thanks, say gobbles, and eat amazing food. I find it fascinating that one season can bring the excitement of Halloween and the Joy of Thanksgiving all wrapped up in a nice present.
